Alyssa Barrett is an athlete development coach, mental performance specialist, and former collegiate basketball player/coach whose career has been rooted in helping athletes perform at their highest level both on and off the court.
Alyssa was a member of the women’s basketball program at Smith College during a historic era for the team. The program gained national recognition from outlets including ESPN and The Boston Globe as a team to watch in the NCAA Tournament and became the first team in program history to reach the NCAA tournament, helping establish the foundation for the program’s continued success.
Following her playing career, Alyssa transitioned into coaching and athlete development across the AAU, high school, and collegiate levels. At the college level she led mental performance programming for athletes, helping players strengthen their competitive mindset while navigating the pressures of high-level sports.
Her doctoral research further deepened this work, focusing on resiliency, athlete burnout, mental performance, and sustainable development for competitive athletes. Through this work, Dr. Barrett has developed programming that helps athletes build confidence, manage pressure, improve focus, and navigate the recruiting process.
Today, Coach Alyssa works with athletes across multiple sports, helping them strengthen both the physical and mental components of performance, while also supporting families in understanding the pathway to collegiate athletics.
Her coaching philosophy focuses on developing resilient, confident athletes who are prepared for competition, recruiting, and long-term success.
